A maneki neko is the beckoning, good luck cat you often see at places of business in China and Japan. It’s a cute calico cat, usually holding one paw up to “beckon” or welcome people to come in. They first appeared in Japan during the Edo period, or over 150 years ago, and have become a cute staple of Japanese culture basically immediately. Their waving paw brings in good fortune and good luck to a house, too. This one is holding a coin in it’s other paw, signifying it is welcoming in financial success. The writing on the coin is the traditional writing of 千万両 or “sen mahn ryoh” meaning “10 million ryoh” aka a very, very large sum of money.
So make this cute kitty toy on a shelf (along with his cute beckoning cactus friend!) to bring some good fortune to your home.
The original artwork of this was originally made to be used as wrapping paper for a friend’s business, and has been redrawn into pixels for diamond painting just for you!
