This is a fun play on words. Miyazaki-ken is a Prefecture near me on the island of Kyushu, and is one of my absolute favorite places in the country. And of course it is also the name of the amazing artist and movie maker of Studio Ghibli, Hayao Miyazaki, creator of such wonderful movies as “Princess Mononoke,” “Spirited Away,” “My Neighbor Totoro,” “Kiki’s Delivery Service,” “Howl’s Moving Castle,” “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind,” and so many more.
The art features homages to some of his famous works, as well as centering on the forests of Miyazaki and Takachiho Gorge at sunset. Two of my favorite things, combined into one amazing travel art for a fan of Japan or Miyazaki films.
This design is huge but not too complicated, making it a good long-term project to work on with lots of special diamonds scattered throughout the starry background.
